The waiters and waitresses at Café du Monde are the busiest in town! They tirelessly cart huge trays full of coffee and plates of beignets to dozens of tables - and usually with a smile. One day, I was walking through and happened upon these two ladies who had just dropped down into their chairs, taking a much-deserved break. I quickly snapped a few photos of them and couldn't wait to begin this painting in oil on linen. The cool greens of the café are in juxtaposition to the warm Bevelo lights, but the real stars of the painting are the 'Café Girls'.
